남산골 한옥 마을 Namsangol Traditional Korean Village

Namsangol Traditional Korean Village was formally opened
on April 18th, 1998.
Five traditional Korean houses that are
designated as one of the folklore materials of Seoul were
reconstructed then. Their traditional gardens were also reborn.
It's a popular place to learn Korean culture through many
events of plays, games, dancing like Kimchi Festival.

the entrance
It was crowded with people of family units, friends, couples,
and foreigners, all bundling up in warm coast against the
chilly weather.

On entering the door, I could see the signposts showing
the map and structure of Namsangol Traditional Korean
Village. At first glance, you could see that it's not a large
place, but you can find another face of Seoul

Chunghak-ji

Before you begin the tour of Namsangol, you can enjoy
looking at the pond which is alive with carps of all sorts
and kinds.
In the Joseon Dynasty period, the valley around this pond
served as a summer resort.

The home of Lady Yoon, the Queen Sunjeonghyo
The Gi-wha(the Korean traditional tiles used for roof) and
wooden structures combine to make perfect balance.

The front garden was full of visitors. Although I couldn't
make a quite visit I planned, it wasn't bad to see lots of
people since it has been a long time.

The frames of the door and paint designs of the house are
the true exquisite beauty that only Korean buildings
can have.

Many women in Hanbok were busy doing something.

Wondering what they are doing, I watched them for a while;
they were clearing up after the traditional wedding.

Many traditional games like Tooho and Korean houses that
children cannot see often attracts many people for field trip
or family picnic.

겨울이 무르익어가고 있는 광경.
햇볕을 가득 품은 메주의 구수한 향기가 감성을 자극한다.
The winter is just around the corner and the smell of
fermented beans(Mae-ji)filled the atmosphere.
